"THREEPEAT" is the popular term used to describe the winning of three consecutive championships. And that's exactly what the Centereach
Boys Varsity Fencing Team did this year - they "threepeated" as the Section XI County Champions. The Cougar's victory marked the first time
in twenty years that a team won three consecutive titles!

The Cougar's championship year was based on the outstanding performance of its athletes throughout the winter sports season.
Jesse Mones set a county record by winning his 200th career bout. Junior Matt Dreyer dominated the competition
with a .860 winning average. Kevin O'Grady was nearly unstoppable by defeating 54 opponents. Senior Glenn Schnabel, a four
year varsity starter and All-League All-County athlete, anchored the epee team with over 50 victories. Perhaps the real strength of the team was in the strong, consistent
performance of seniors "Billy the Kid" Garrison, Kevin Bliss, Rich "The Z Man" Zekaria, Marc Morrell and Junior
Greg Schnabel.

Not surprisingly, the team captured the League 1 Title and was well positioned to defend their 1994 and 1995 county titles. At the county
championships at Huntington High School, the Cougars outscored all opponents, including strong teams from Brentwood, Newfield, and
Huntington. In the individual portion of the tournament, Jesse Mones captured the foil title and teammate, Matt Dreyer, was
second.

Also in the individual portion, Kevin O'Grady captured the silver medal in sabre, and Kevin Bliss placed fourth. The bronze
medal in epee fencing was won by Glenn Schnabel and Greg Schnabel placed 6th. A great season by a great team.
